The Afro-American Club of Citrus County

Donations

Recently the Education Committee of the Afro-American Club of Citrus County took a hard look at its mandate and decided we as a group, could be doing more for the community. A review of that mandate to help students by awarding scholarships and other support to the community in areas directly related to education forced us to make some changes that will broaden our mandate.

In trying to achieve more as a group we went about making several change in our processes and added some new avenues for offering help. These new changes allow us to meet our mandate and at the same time offer more ways to help those seeking help in the area of higher education.

First, we reviewed the organizational by-laws that define our function and made needed changes to broaden the scope of the help we could offer. Through the change in the organization's by-laws, we are now able to offer various scholarships to students not just at the end of the year when they graduate but also at other periods throughout the year. We also have included ways for student to request grants for specific one time educational needs such as special career certifications etc. We have also made it possible for students at any level of higher education to apply for monetary help from our organization.

We are presently developing the criteria for the various ways by which students can apply for help from our organization. These criteria when completed will be available directly from us by mail or through links on our web site: http://Afro-AmericanClub.Org

Secondly, understanding the demand this increase in our desire to serve the community in a greater way and our limited financial resources we have established a special scholarship fund. This fund is open to donations from everyone in the community and beyond and any money given is tax deductible. Donations to the Afro-American Club of Citrus County Scholarship Patrons Fund or AACCC Scholarship Patrons Fund can be given directly by using the form at the end of this article or getting the information from our web site listed above. Your help is greatly needed to make our efforts a success.

We will continue to redefine our processes and continue to look for additional avenues to serve our community. With your support as a community we believe we will a force of great change throughout Citrus County and a conduit for many to find life changes through higher education and special career areas they select.
